open to the public from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Saturday, December 7th
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
All sessions are in Unit 102, next to Showcase.
For those who are unable to attend in-person, a digital version of the presentation slides can be found here and a video breakdown here. You can share your comments online here by filling out the comment form. The online comment dialogue will be open until January 10, 2025.
Sharing your thoughts with QuadReal will help to secure the future of the NSCR Office. Please attend a session and encourage your friends and family to as well.
Key messages to highlight:
1. NSCR Office and Community Amenity Space
(a) Cap Mall has been home to the NSCR office for over 25 years! In that time, we have literally served hundreds of thousands of North Shore residents from infants and their families to seniors enhancing the wellbeing of our clients and the community at large. NSCR’s office should be understood as a critical community asset in the same way we think about libraries or community centres. It is critically important for the wellbeing of community members and the larger community that NSCR continues to be able operate and serve the community from the new development! The site is great because it is central, is easily accessible by transit or car and the community knows we are here. New office space should be developed in the first phase with minimal disruption to our operations and thus the community we serve.
(b) The second part of this ask is that it is important that there be flexible community amenity space that NSCR can readily and freely use to operate its programs. We could share and co-program such space with other services providers (e.g. CNV Library, North Van Rec, other not for profits) to reduce operational costs and maximize use of the amenities.
2. Below Market Rental and Child Care
The North Shore needs more housing both market and non-market housing.
The new development is a wonderful opportunity to build new below market housing.
Likewise, especially with so much new housing proposed for the site (approx. 3,100 units), there will be a need for child care facilities.
Both of these should be in the mix for a new development.
Note that there will more specific information available on their website where you or others (family/friends) can share these messages via online feedback up to January 10, 2025.
