This month we said goodbye to two longtime team members, Madi and Sue, as they move on to new opportunities. Madi worked at NSCR for 2 years in the seniors programs. When someone called in needing help with grocery deliveries or transportation help, she was at the phone. Over the years, Madi developed strong relationships with those she helped and they have already expressed how much they will miss her. But NSCR doesn’t leave your heart that quickly. Madi will be back to volunteer her time with Friendly Visiting with old and new clients.
With us since 2020, Sue was the Manager of the seniors program, overseeing the community connections and organization of the program. Sue took on all grant writing and applications for funding for seniors. Under her watch, the seniors program was expansive, as she oversaw Better at Home, Seniors One Stop, InterGenNS, Community Connectors, Friendly Visiting, and more. We were lucky to have Sue and her passion be a part of our team.
As NSCR grows, so does our team. Recently, 7 new members have joined and we couldn’t be happier. Aseman and Azam have joined as Community Connectors and Marlene came on as the CCRR Consultant for our new West Vancouver location! Both summer students, Yagmur is now working as our Program Assistant and Morgan is the new Legal Summer Student. Picking up the mantle from Don, our new Community Housing Action Committee Chair, Jacob, has also joined the team. We also saw the return of one of our former colleagues, Erica! From Better at Home Assistant to now taking up Madi’s role as the Better at Home Services Coordinator. I guess she just couldn’t get us out of her head.
