Tia Smith

Tia Smith received her Masters degree in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College in 1998. Both her graduate and undergraduate studies focused on bi-cultural development of children and the family. Since 1996 her work at Capilano University has included a faculty position within the Early Childhood Care and Education Department, Manager of the campus children’s centre and Early Childhood Educator. Tia believes the health and wellbeing of children and families is a shared responsibility and her work with students, families and the local child care community provides opportunity to engage in question of what responsibility we have to one another. Tia joined the Board of Directors at North Shore Community Resources Society in the fall of 2014. She is actively engaged within the child care community presenting at workshops and with membership on advisory and planning committees. Aside from local professional commitments, Tia is a long time resident of the North Shore and grateful to be raising her daughters in a community with opportunity and the North Shore mountains.
